Family and Friends,
Welcome to my fundraising page for the 2018 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Thank you for helping me achieve my goal of raising $1,500 for the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
As some of you may know, GCFD is a foundation that hits close to home. My great grandfather, Robert Strube, was one of the masterminds behind starting this organization back in 1979.
Owning a produce company on South Water Market, he donated some of his warehouse space to begin his mission of ending hunger in Chicago. In its first year of operation, the Food Depository distributed 471,000 pounds of food to 85 local agencies. He lived by the motto "if it is to be, it is up to me." Ten two-letter words that served as his main purpose in life.
Although my great grandpa did not achieve his goal of ending hunger during his lifetime, I thought raising money for the Chicago Marathon would be the perefct start to my journey of helping him complete his mission. I now serve as an Associate Board Member for GCFD and am excited to help make a difference.
Your donation will help feed the 812,000 men, women, and children served by the Food Depository each year.
The Food Depository and I really appreciate your support.
Because of you, someone will eat today!
And remember, "if it is to be, it is up to me."
