at Greater Chicago Food Depository

Please note the time change, effective January, 2014.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository regularly needs volunteers to help with repacking donated food and other products. Together, we can properly and efficiently distribute quality food to participating food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters in Cook County.

Please read the following information carefully before scheduling your group.

Volunteers must be able to stand for up to 90 minutes while doing some light lifting and bending.

Volunteer groups may only book 1 Wednesday evening repack session per month and 1 Saturday repack session per month.

The minimum age for volunteers is 14 years old. If you are 14 or 15 you must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18. Groups with children between the ages of 5 and 13 may participate in Kids Day; please contact Volunteer Services for more information.

High school and youth groups with more than five students must contact Volunteer Services to schedule a session. Please do not use this page to schedule your session.

Please contact Volunteer Services if you have any special needs that we should be aware of before your session.

Anyone volunteering to complete court-ordered community service must fill out this application and return it to the Volunteer Services department before setting up a volunteer session. This document may be mailed, faxed or returned electronically.
